Looking for Juan 10: “What Does it Mean to be a Filipino?”

What does it mean to be a Filipino?’ This is the question that CANVAS and more than a hundred contemporary Filipino participating artists grapple with in the 10th Looking for Juan Outdoor Banner Show, opening on August 18, 4pm, at the Bulwagan ng Dangal in the University of the Philippines-Diliman.
The group show revisits the theme and question for CANVAS’ very first outdoor banner show in 2009. We wonder if the answers would change – if being a Filipino in 2018 would be different from or the same as it was a decade before. What results is a collection of paintings and sculptures depicting each artist’s reflections on and response to the question.
