Above the Fold Public Program

In a supercharged terrain where news is reported posthaste and fades easily to obsolescence, radical journalism fulfills the vital role of remembering.
Join the Philippine Collegian and the UP Bulwagan ng Dangal on December 6, 2:00 p.m., at Alcantara Hall, Student Union Building for the opening public program of Above the Fold: Pages of the Philippine Collegian Under Marcos Regime. To kick off the exhibit, a public roundtable discussion will be conducted to tackle the conditions that shaped the Martial Law era and how the Collegian negotiated these to advance substantial campus journalism amid state repression.
The forum will be moderated by Danilo Arao, associate professor of journalism and former Collegian news editor. He will be joined by Fides Lim, Bibeth Orteza, and Judy Taguiwalo, who had all served as editors of the Collegian under Martial Law rule. The main exhibition, on the other hand, will be open to the public from December 6 to 19 at the Vinzons Hall Lobby.
