Virtual Exhibitions

Brought about by the desire to continue creating valuable exhibitions and reaching out to the UP Diliman community amidst the isolation caused by the ongoing pandemic, the Bulwagan ng Dangal University Heritage Museum released permanent virtual exhibitions in partnership with the UP Diliman Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts.

Lupang Hinirang: Mga Kuwento ng Pagsasalugar ng UP Diliman (2019 and 2020)

As celebration of the 70th year of the transfer of the Oblation from Ermita to Diliman, the exhibition surfaced narratives of placemaking among members of the university community, and explored their power “in shaping the minds and viewpoints about a community, empowering its members and legitimizing their place in the community. … This exhibit enjoins people to take part in creating the story of UP Diliman, a community built on a sense of mutual understanding and hope for a more compassionate future.”

Engkwentro: Sa(la)ysay ng Diliman Commune (2021)

This exhibition commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Diliman Commune, through dwelling on its story and its significance to the history of the university and the nation. From February 1 to 9, 1971, the University of the Philippines was barricaded by students and other participants, as an expression of solidarity with jeepney drivers who were then rallying against oil price hikes. The exhibition underscores the need to continuously remember and learn from the lessons of this critical juncture in UP Diliman’s history.

Kaloob Sining Biswal: Mga Likha ng mga Artista-Iskolar ng UP Diliman (2023)

A gathering of works by UPD-OICA’s artist-scholars, the exhibition affords a view of how these students and alumni “ask[ed] and attempt[ed] to answer various questions surrounding art, society, and the world through their explorations of their chosen form. … The inventiveness and creativity of the artist-scholars are their greatest offering and contributions as Artista ng Bayan—equipped with honor and excellence for others, which is the spirit of the university.”
